5 questions
How do I connect my phone to TrackRate Remote Control?
- Open Settings → Remote API.
- Enable the server; the default port is
19840. - Optionally create usernames and passwords in Manage Users.
- Connect the phone to the same local network.
- Scan the displayed QR code or open
http://<pc-ip>:19840. - Log in if users are configured.
Use the IP shown by TrackRate, not localhost, because “localhost” on the phone refers to the phone itself.
What can I control from the Remote page?
The Remote supports play/pause, previous/next, seeking, volume, Shuffle, Loop, EQ presets, rating, source mode, remote timer presets, and supported computer power actions. Changes are synchronized between the desktop and connected phones.
You can also browse the library by Artist → Album → Track, by physical folders, or as a sortable track list. Search fields support filters such as artist:, album:, year:, and dur:>5.
Can several phones connect, and should I configure users?
Several phones can connect at once and receive push updates. Without configured users, anyone who can reach the server on the local network may be able to open the Remote. Add credentials on shared or less trusted networks and use Remember Me only on personal devices.
Turning the server off immediately closes the port, drops connections, and clears active sessions. Desktop playback continues when an individual phone disconnects.
Does Remote Control work over the internet?
No. It is designed for the same local network and does not require an external internet service. Both devices should be on the same Wi-Fi or reachable LAN. TrackRate does not provide a public relay.
Do not expose port 19840 through router port forwarding unless you independently understand and secure that network configuration. The intended setup is local access only.
Why will the Remote page not open or stay connected?
Confirm that Remote API is enabled, both devices are on the same network, and the URL uses the desktop IP plus port 19840. Allow TrackRate through the operating-system firewall on private networks. Guest Wi-Fi and access-point isolation can prevent devices from seeing each other.
If the IP changed after reconnecting the computer, scan the new QR code. Disable VPNs temporarily for testing, and verify the Remote works in a browser on the desktop before troubleshooting the phone.
