Album & Artist Browser

The Premium browser presents the library by artists, albums, and tracks rather than physical folders. Use it to explore an artist’s catalog, inspect album artwork, mark whole artists or albums, and apply actions to the resulting selection.

It is especially useful when file paths are inconsistent but metadata is clean. Correct artist and album fields first when releases appear split or under the wrong artist.

Choose the artist or album view, then sort and filter the visible catalog using the browser controls. Selecting an artist reveals albums; selecting an album reveals its tracks. The Browser operates on the active TrackRate database.

Use ordinary library filters before opening the Browser when you want a constrained catalog—for example one genre, decade, or folder—then use Browser sorting to inspect the result visually.

The artist-row M button marks every track for that artist. The album-card M button marks an album. In the right panel, use track checkboxes or Mark All/Unmark All for finer control. Active marks display a confirmation state.

Review the marked count before copying, moving, tagging, or adding tracks elsewhere. Marking selects library entries; it does not immediately change or delete the files.

Yes. The Artist Info panel can fetch biography, origin, formation year, genres, and similar artists from independent services such as Deezer, Wikipedia, and TheAudioDB. In-library related artists are highlighted so you can continue browsing your own collection.

External information is best-effort and may be incomplete. Use Refresh to clear and fetch again, or Delete to remove cached artist information and images without affecting the music files.

The Browser groups primarily from metadata. Small differences such as “Artist Name” versus “Artist Name feat. Guest,” inconsistent album spelling, or missing year/album fields can create separate groups. Correct the metadata and refresh the relevant folder or view.

For artwork, confirm artist and album values before fetching. If providers still have no correct image, place manual artwork in TrackRate’s album-art storage.
